I am blind/visually impaired. How can I find my way around Schiphol?

We advise that you request assistance via your airline, tour operator or travel agency. You can also send an email to assistentie@airportcaddy.nl and we will be ready and waiting for you when you arrive at the airport. In the e-mail, state your name, address and place of residence; your flight number and destination; the date and time of your arrival at Schiphol and a mobile phone number on which you we can reach you.

Where are the accessible toilets at Schiphol?

Most toilet blocks at Schiphol include an accessible toilet.

I am deaf/hard of hearing. Will I be able to follow the public address announcements?

Keep any eye on the flight monitors at the gates for the latest information.

Will the security staff accommodate my disability?

Yes. The security staff at Schiphol are trained to treat all passengers with the utmost care. You may be asked additional questions, for example with regard to your medication. It may also take longer for you to go through security screening.

How can I get through security control in my wheelchair?

There is a wider passage for wheelchair-bound passengers. It can also be used for prams. The security official will check your wheelchair for prohibited items.

Can I be searched in my wheelchair during the security screening?

Yes. If you go to the gate in your own wheelchair and are unable to stand up, the security official will search you in your wheelchair using a hand-held scanner.

Can I borrow a wheelchair at Schiphol Airport?

Of course! You can find wheelchairs at various locations around the airport. They are bright yellow and easy to recognise. They are located in the tunnel between P1 and the terminals, in Schiphol Plaza (the airport’s main public foyer) next to the lifts to the train concourse, and next to Starbucks at Arrivals 4.

To use them, you need to deposit 2 euros into the attachment on the handle. You will be able to retrieve your 2 euros when you return your wheelchair.

What services are available to me on board the aircraft?

These services differ depending on the airline. On some flights, there are designated seats for disabled passengers and a wheelchair is available on board. Ask the airline through which you booked your ticket for details.
