Two students in their bedroom

If you have a disability or have medical-related requirements, you will be given priority during the allocation process.

Specifically adapted accommodation is available, in particular for wheelchair users and students with a hearing impairment.

If you require specific accommodation which is not available in the private sector, you can also request to return to University accommodation after your first year of study.

When to inform us of your needs

Please note on your online application if you have any disability or medical related requirements which need to be taken into account, or of which your Residences Manager should be aware.

You should note these requirements on your application, regardless of which accommodation you are applying for, or even if you have already been in contact with the Disability and Dyslexia Service with regards to specific requirements.

Only information that you provide at the time of application will be taken into account when allocating rooms and written confirmation from a medical practitioner may be required. All disability or medical information is treated confidentially, and only used for the purposes stated above.

Adjustments during your stay

We make individual reasonable adjustments for disabled students when required, for example, installing a handrail in a bathroom. You can request such adjustments at any time during your stay, please talk to your Residences Manager.

However, if you are aware of any adjustments in advance of your arrival, please contact the Disability and Dyslexia Service to discuss these, and we will try to have it in place by the time you arrive.
