U.S. Department of Education Announces $236 Million in Available Grant Funding to Create a 21st Century Workforce of Youth and Adults with Disabilities

Eligible applicants include state educational agencies, state juvenile justice agencies, state developmental disabilities agencies, state departments of health, state departments of human services, designated state units for vocational rehabilitation services, and public, private, and nonprofit entities, including Indian tribes and institutions of higher education.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 9, 2024) — The U.S. Department of Education’s Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) announced $236 million in available discretionary grant funding for model demonstration projects to create a 21st century workforce of youth and adults with disabilities through the transformation of education, career and competitive integrated employment (CIE).

RSA, which falls under the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, intends to fund 23-29 innovative model demonstration projects focused on activities aimed at increasing CIE, as defined in section 7 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Rehabilitation Act) (29 U.S.C. 705(5)), for youth and other individuals with disabilities. Awards will be frontloaded for a 5-year project period, and RSA estimates awards will range from $8-10 million each.
