Apple’s so-called “professional” laptops give me serious imposter syndrome vibes.
As I explained in my review of the new AirPods Pro back in October, Apple’s definition of “pro” generally serves as a marker of niceness. The AirPods Pro are a nicer set of earbuds than the suffix-less AirPods, what with nicer features such as noise cancellation, Transparency Mode, and the little notch for attaching a wrist strap. Sometimes, Apple does explicitly call out professional people with its products; software like Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro come to mind, as does hardware like the Mac Pro. More often than not, however, the “pro” nomenclature merely serves as Apple marketing speak for nicer, more feature-rich products.
