Final Approval to Class Action Settlement to Provide Meaningful Access for Wheelchair Users at Red Rocks Amphitheater
DENVER June 18, 2018 – On Thursday June 7th, a federal judge approved a settlement between the City of Denver and a coalition of local disability-rights organizations in a class action lawsuit claiming the City of Denver had denied patrons who use wheelchairs and other mobility devices the opportunity to meaningfully access Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Nonprofit organizations Civil Rights Education and Enforcement Center (CREEC), Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition (CCDC), and Disability Law Colorado (DLC) filed the suit against the City of Denver in December 2016, claiming disability discrimination for failure to ensure that people who use wheelchairs or other mobility devices had access to the first row of seating at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
