This is an article about how access features built into technology help older people. Lainey showed her 91-year-old dad how to put live captions on his iPhone. He was excited and it is now much easier for him to talk on the phone. Many access features benefit older people who may not consider themselves disabled. This article asks how we can teach people about accessibility. It offers some ideas about how to spread the word about the value of digital accessibility. One idea is for the AARP to write about accessibility in their magazine that goes out to over 35 million people over the age of 50.
My 91 year old father Saul Feingold (pictured here) is a role model of aging. He looks forward and not backward. He has no regret for what he can no longer do and is thrilled with what he can. He’s lucky and he knows it.
